The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the extension of the Internet to the world of objects and concrete places.
Basically, the IoT are electromechanical Things connected to the Internet that become recognisable and acquire intelligence thanks to the fact that they can communicate data about themselves and access aggregate information from others.
For "thing" or "object" it can be more precisely understood categories such as: devices, systems, tangible materials and products, goods, machines and equipment. These connected objects that underlie the IoT are more properly defined as smart objects and are characterised by some properties or functionalities.
There are many fields of applicability: from industrial applications to logistics and infomobility, to energy efficiency, remote assistance and environmental protection.
